For years, i have dreamt about graduating and how i would be able to do whatever i wanted to. I CRAVED the taste of independence. Well hear it is and trust me it tastes like shit. eight days after my graduation and i'm still not allowed to walk outside the foor walls of my house without a complete explantion and permission.Today was even my friends party in his mothers hotel and my mum didn't even wait for me to finish asking if i should go before she slapped me with her words. It went like this
'Mummy could i go for X's par..'
'Party, X is throwing a party, X, that bad boy, I wonder what kind of party it is'
'It's just a party you know since we have graduated from secondary school and all'
'Where is this so called party that X is having going to be?'
'In his mothers hotel'
'Ta, i should let you go there so that you would come back crying about how they stole your bag or they would drug your drink and then lock you in a room'
I am sick and tired of not being allowed to go anywhere, i'm 16 years old and i haven't even entered a Taxi in naija before. Actually i think i have, i and my friend snuck out on her birthday and payed the taxi driver to take use up and down the street just for the thrill of it. Speaking from experience the worst part of being born into a comfortable family is being cursed with the joy and agony of dependancy. You are so bored with having things done for you that doing little things for yourself gives you thesame feeling taking drugs might. The first time i washed a bath some months ago, i was so elated that i called my friends to tell them about my joy.How am i suppose to have any fun at all when i'm stuck within the four walls of my compound.
